Colin Davies & Associates was formed in 1992 following Colin’s successful 17 year career in Local Government. As a Principal Building Surveyor & Chief Health Inspector, Colin gained extensive experience in building construction, Development Control as well as Environment Health controls.

Following  his local government  employment Colin worked in the private sector as a valuer  with valuation firms in the Canberra Region.

A period was spent with the Woodger Group which had property developments in most Australian States.  Colin managed the property portfolio comprising industrial property associated with transport, together with residential and industrial subdivisions as well as residential redevelopment.

Much of the experience and knowledge gained in Local Government forms the basis of the practice. So much of what can be developed is regulated by government controls and Colin’s knowledge and experience provides a confident basis for clients.

The practice has developed into one which focuses on specialised property valuation, litigation and market research. While we have a strong focus on litigation, environmental stigma and blight, other areas of valuation practice are not neglected as our client base has differing needs for valuation. Our approach to valuation is focused on the needs of the client having regard to the circumstances of the case, and the reporting protocols.

From his initial experience as an expert in building and development matters, Colin has extended this knowledge to the valuation arena and has successfully provided expert evidence to the Family Law Court, the Federal Circuit Court, the Federal Court, the Supreme Court of NSW, the District Court and the Consumer, Trader and Tenancy Tribunal (Building) CTTT, now known as NCAT.

As part of our practice we have maintained sales records over 40 years for Canberra residential market and about 30 years for the district markets. This allows sufficient evidence for retrospective valuation requirements.

With a focus on private individual needs our practice operates over a wide area. (see map)

Having a focus on building, the practice has extensive experience in Financial Valuation Reporting  which is an increasing need for companies, in particular the valuation of land and buildings and heritage assets. We have undertaken these exercises in recent years for religious organizations, Local Councils and Companies.

We have three locations,  26 Pindari Crescent Queanbeyan servicing Queanbeyan/Jerrabomberra and the wider district, 91 Antill Street Downer ACT servicing Canberra and 97 Clifford Street Goulburn servicing the Goulburn district.
